My Song of the Week [February 4th - 15th]
Winner:
Why: I love acoustic guitar songs, and while I can enjoy the more ambient, new age ones, I still love the passion driven songs more. This is one of those. Starting off with a sweetly written intro, it speaks of hope and the need for every human to somehow connect to god, and how our past and future selves can conflict with this need.
Soon after two minutes of melody, Joseph bursts out into an epic, emotional ballad that really got me. Continuing over itself throughout the course of this song, I’ve been repeating it for the past hour. I just love it, it’s amazing. Song of the week for me.
How I found it: Actually a few weeks back I bought the Scrubs Soundtrack Volume 2, and I just started really listening to it recently. The soundtrack had some artists I’ve never heard of before, that I really like, so it’s a good resource to start branching out.

Runner up:
Why: At first I did not like this song at all. But after hearing it live at the Grammies, it sounded better live, and I really loved the drums they used for it. So, I went back this song and gave it another listen, and I almost missed this great piece. I guess their stuff just has to grow on you.
It’s pretty creative and original sounding, the stuff on this album is not like anything I’ve heard before, and it has this tribal drum like sound that gets to me. Lyrics are well written and the way they’re sung fit in with the feeling and texture of this music. It’s not dragged out, it keeps it at a fast tempo and ends it at the right time. I like it a lot.
How I found it: My dad already has this album and I got it there, but I started listening to it after the Grammies. Probably their intent, huh.
